Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty

Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty

Due to the aging the eyelid skin stretches, muscles get weaker and fat accumulates around the eyes, causing the formation of "pockets" at the top and bottom.  Eyelid surgery removes excess skin, fat bags if any part of the orbicular muscle and if necessary, improving the appearance of looking tired, refresh it, the younger.

Before surgery, the surgeon marks the incision following the natural lines and creases of the upper and lower eyelids.  Remove the fat that is below the skin and excess skin and muscle. The surgeon closes the incisions with very fine sutures.

Many times patients consult by a feeling of heaviness in the eyelids and difficulty in vision by the excess skin of the upper eyelid that slides in front of the eyes.

Eyelid surgery should be performed in an operating room, after evaluation of pre-operative examinations, using local anesthesia with sedation or is assisted. The Blepharoplasty surgery is not painful. The duration of this operation varies between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Surgery can be performed as single or combined with others such as lifting facial. The delicate stitches can begin to withdraw from the 3rd postoperative day.

To address the inferior eyelid in most of the cases it's not necessary to remove skin and is possible to perform a transconjuctival approach avoiding external incisions in the skin.

You can return to work after 48 - 72 hours, the edema decrease gradually until they disappear entirely in terms of 7-10 days normally.
